    2024 AAGE Hot Topics Roundtables

    All AAGE members are invited to join us for the next series of Roundtables for 2024. The AAGE continues to evolve these sessions to ensure members can take away some actionable insights and professional development whether they have a little or a lot of industry experience. These sessions enable members to network with peers from across the graduate resourcing and development industry and now include data shared from AAGE surveys and other events, opportunities for you to have table-based discussions about specific topics and facilitated shared learning.

    The topics for this series of Roundtables will include:

    • 2024 campaign review – attraction channels, recruitment processes, pre-onboarding plans
    • Candidate behaviours and attitudes
    • Learning and development for your graduate support team (managers/buddies/mentors)
    • Use of AI in your role
    • Measuring and demonstrating program ROI.

            2024 AAGE Early Careers Leader Forums (Employers Only)

            This May, we are piloting a new session for our experienced employer members to come together to discuss and workshop a key strategic topic area for early careers teams. Starting with Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, this half-day forum is aimed at employer representatives who have:

            • 3+ years' experience in the graduate recruitment and development industry OR
            • Are leading a regional or national early careers team.
            The question we will be posing is ‘How can you build programs to engage and develop early careers talent?’ and the format of the day will be:
            • 9.00am - 10.15am: Presentation (introduction, presentation of data, guest speaker)
            • 10.15am - 10.30am: Coffee and stretch break
            • 10.30am - 12.30pm: Topic-based discussion groups
            • 12.30pm - 1.15pm: Lunch and networking
            • 1.15pm - 2.00pm: Session wrap up and next steps

            We anticipate that throughout the day, you will have the opportunity to reflect on data that focuses on the needs and expectations of graduates and share insights around the innovations, challenges and goals of your own programs.               2023 AAGE Virtual Master Classes (Employer Members Only)

              Best practice training in the fundamentals of graduate recruitment and development

              The AAGE Master Class will provide participants with an overview of best practice in the fundamentals of graduate recruitment and development.

              The target audience for these Master Classes is employer representatives with 0 to 12 months’ experience in the graduate recruitment and development industry. We would normally expect around 10-20 people at each Master Class.

              Each Master Class will cover the following topics:

              First half (1 hour, 20 mins)

              1. Attraction (attraction strategies and marketing channels. e.g. careers fairs, student societies, job boards, social media etc.)
              2. Assessment and selection (setting up your selection process and mechanisms for identifying and assessing competencies. e.g. application forms, screening, aptitude testing, assessment centres, interviewing, video interviewing, outsourcing etc.)

              Stretch break

              Second half (1 hour, 20 mins)

              1. Graduate onboarding and development programs (design and structure of graduate development programs including rotations, buddies, mentors, onboarding, technical training, “soft skills” training etc.)
              2. Useful information (an overview of the various sources of help and information available to AAGE members such as benchmarking surveys, semester dates, careers fair timetables, UniStats, SocList, Whirlpool, WGEA, AGRIAs, Top Graduate Employers, Top Intern Programs etc.)

              There will also be an opportunity for interactive discussion with your peers during the session.

                    2023 February Forums

                    Members are invited to join us for the AAGE's February Forum series. Our first face-to-face event for 2023 provides our employer members with an opportunity to meet with their industry peers for roundtable discussions, while a lunch in between the two forums is an opportunity for all members to come together to connect and network.

                    The employer forums will be separated into Practitioner and Leader groups and will have topics for facilitated discussion. This format will enable peer groups from within the AAGE membership to discuss topical issues and share insights as you plan and execute your graduate recruitment and development in 2023.

                    The lunch will see employer, universities, service providers and industry associations come together to make new connections or build on existing relationships to help you lay the foundation for a successful year ahead.

                    Interested in talking to others in your industry about their recruitment and development plans for graduate and early talent this year?

                    You are invited to join us for a free member videoconference with your peers to discuss your organisation’s experience of onboarding graduates, your attraction and selection process plans for recruiting in 2022 and any challenges you are experiencing. These differ from our roundtables as only employers from the same industry group are invited to this discussion.

                    You will receive a confirmation email upon registering. The AAGE will send a separate email to participants prior to the videoconference with instructions for the call and a list of those participating.

                    2022 AAGE Attraction and Assessment Virtual Roundtables

                    You are invited to join us for the AAGE's upcoming Attraction and Assessment Virtual Roundtables which will be held as videoconference events.

                    This is an exciting opportunity to meet your peers from the graduate resourcing and development industry to discuss a range of issues related to attraction and assessment such as:   

                    • What attraction strategies are being used for the 2022 recruitment season? 
                    • How successful are marketing channels such as careers fairs, campus ambassadors and social media?
                    • What attributes are employers seeking during the 2022 campaign? 
                    • Are employers using competency frameworks, success profiling or strengths-based assessment?
                    • What assessment tools are employers using to screen and select their candidates? 
                    • How useful are aptitude tests, video interviews or gamification?

                    Each Virtual Roundtable will consist of a small number of AAGE members from a cross-section of employer industries, service providers, industry associations and universities. Participants will engage in a facilitated discussion of the current state of the Australian graduate / intern recruitment market.

                    2022 AAGE Practitioner Master Class (EMPLOYERS ONLY)

                    The Annual AAGE Practitioner Master Class featuring best practice training in the fundamentals of graduate recruitment and development.

                    These events will be run both virtually and are for employers only.

                    The target audience for these Master Classes is employer representatives with 0 to 12 months’ experience in the graduate recruitment and development industry. We would normally expect around 10-20 people at each Master Class.

                    These four sessions covering the basic elements of managing a graduate recruitment and development program are:
