Graduates and their Managers: Singing from the Same Song Sheet

Presented by our Industry Partner Be Challenged

Join Be Challenged CEO Lisa Kelliher as she draws on Be Challenged experience and insights from the graduate sector and AAGE Insights data to explore an important gap in many graduate programs: while graduates are often provided with carefully curated onboarding and ongoing professional learning, the managers and leaders responsible for supporting them may receive far less structured development in this area. The session will unpack why this imbalance matters and what it means for graduate experience, performance and retention.

From there, the workshop will consider the importance of graduates, managers and leaders “singing from the same song sheet” — sharing common language, expectations and ways of thinking that build trust, clarity and collective efficacy. Through a practical countdown of the top 10 areas where shared understanding makes the greatest difference, participants will explore the value and benefits of aligning graduate development with leader capability, and how this alignment can create stronger outcomes for individuals, teams and organisations.

Participants will develop an understanding of:

  • The value of prioritising graduate manager and leader development with the same focus that they provide to graduates
  • The benefits of synergy between these groups
  • The key areas/concepts for understanding that need to be prioritised in order to maximise productivity and synergy between leaders and their graduates.
